fb:multi-friend-selector and fb:comments bug

March 4, 2010 | Filed Under a Web Developer's Diary, techy | Leave a Comment

If you have fb:comments and fb:multi-friend-selector both on one page.. you’ll notice that  the fb:multi-friend-selector doesn’t work right. You’ll see the this.form is null error from firebug. No one ever gets selected even when they look like they’re selected.

To make this work.. add the fb:multi-friend-selector to a fb:js-string variable. Next, on your javascript.. add that variable to your multi-friend-selector’s container. :D

I guess what I’m trying to say is that you add fb:multi-friend-selector using js.. Pretty easy right?

Note: Today is 04 March 2010. Since facebook changes a lot.. this might not be true in the future. But I wrote this for those who are scratching their heads trying to figure out why “this.form is null”.. hehehe! I feel you. :)

Scary Monday

March 2, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I had a very scary Monday yesterday. I was running errands for my mother yesterday. And it was really, really dry.. I was really sweaty.. then, I came to a spot where there’s this traffic light.. so I waited for it to turn red so I can cross the street.. then, a beggar walked up to me. I think she’s around 11-13 years old. If you live in Davao City, beggars near the traffic lights are normal.. If you know me, you’d know that I don’t give out change to beggars (because I believe in Self Reliance and etc.. and I know that there are better ways to give..).. So, she walks up to me and asks me for money.. At first, she has this really beggy face.. But giving was not in my mind at that time.. I was focused on crossing the street so I shook my head ‘No’. She then threatened to spit on me!?!?!!?! Oh gosh! It was hot.. and I was sweaty.. and she wanted to spit on my face?!?!?! I all but crossed the street and rode the first jeepney I saw.. It was sooooo scary!!!

Stake Seminary

March 1, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 2 Comments

Because my father works in the S&I Department.. I have been to numerous Stake Seminaries before and after my official seminary days. :)

When I was younger, they had this sticker “I [heart] being an LDS”. I was soooo jealous! I wanted one of those.. but my father said  I’d have to wait.. And guess what.. when it was my turn, they decided to stop giving out “I [heart] being an LDS” stickers.. huhu! {hehe.. bitter much..}

Anyways, last saturday was my very very first Stake Seminary where I attended as a Seminary teacher. :) Woohoo!!

I have an extremely nice story before that.. my mother during the week.. lost her precious glasses (once again. hehehe).. she was on the look out all week. Then, she found it that Saturday.. but not in it’s perfect ‘usable’ form.. so, she thought I was her runner.. she asked me to go to this eye doctor just outside the chapel. When I was there.. there was a man and the eye doctor.. they were talking about glasses. The old man was asking the eye doctor why he needed glasses. So, the doctor explained muscles and etc.. Then they looked at me.. because I just placed my mother’s glasses in the doctor’s desk.. and asked her to fix it. The old man looked at it.. and said that those glasses were for older people (like him.. hehehe). I told them it was my mother’s.. after a little chit chat between the old man and the old lady doctor.. (hehe.. just so we’re clear that they’re both old.. ) they looked at me.. they were now talking about jobs.. so, when they looked at me.. the old man implied that I must be younger than 20.. so, I must still be in College. :D And that, ladies and gentlemen just made my day. :) hehe.. they were both shocked that I was already (*cough*cough) 24.. See, I woke up feeling down and etc.. but when they both gushed how young I looked like.. that turned my day downside up:) Moral of the story is that, when you have something good to say.. “Say it!”. When it’s something bad (and most of the time they won’t do any good).. just zip your mouth and don’t say it.

but.. this post’s title is “Stake Seminary”.. so, last Saturday was the last Stake Seminary / Super Saturday of the School year.. and [drum rolls please].. our ward finished “First” in the Scripture Mastery!!!!!!!!!!!

The Dash

March 1, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

I don’t mean to sound too morbid.. but I found this really nice poem I’d like to share:

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
from the beginning…to the end.

-

He noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.

-

For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth…
and now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.

-

For it matters not, how much we own;
the cars….the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.

-

So think about this long and hard…
are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left.
(You could be at “dash midrange.”)

-

If we could just slow down enough
to consider what’s true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.

-

And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we’ve never loved before.

-

If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile…
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.

-

So, when your eulogy’s being read
with your life’s actions to rehash…
would you be proud of the things they
say about how you spend your dash?

Valentines 2010

February 26, 2010 | Filed Under Updates | 1 Comment

Valentines was really, really different this year. The day before the big v-day.. my  mother called me because she said there was an emergency. I was not exactly thrilled about it because I was working and my deadline was just around the corner..

On our way.. my mother called again and mentioned “hospital”. And..  I simply didn’t know what to do. My mother had to be admitted to the hospital because her blood pressure was too high.

It was a bit scary because the only times I’ve been to a hospital was to visit.. and my very last visit was a year ago. Me and hospitals are total strangers. It took them 3 hours before they could get my mother her room. They had to check her insurance.. which really annoyed me! I mean, my mother could be fighting for her life and they’re checking her insurance!?!?!

I spent my Valentines Day in my mother’s hospital room #365. But I really wasn’t at the hospital all the time.. I only need to be there when my father has classes/meetings he can’t miss. Hehe.. I have been teasing them about spending Valentines alone in the hospital room.. hehe.. {see.. the hospital room looked like a hotel room}

Thankyou thankyou Sis. Jenette for the cute very nyummmy heart cake.. :) and to all those who visited my mother while she was there…

She’s ok now.. we just have to learn how to take her bp.. (ohboy! *there’s a reason why I’m an IT graduate…)
